A Silver & Sage Christmas Tablescape
Forget the tree, Christmas tablescapes are where it’s AT when it comes to holiday decor. Actually, that’s not really true. BUT, I do love a beautiful and elegantly designed tablescape to really complete your holiday look.
This Silver & Sage tablescape was created for a client with glitz and glam in mind! Her gorgeous dining room with floor to ceiling windows was the perfect backdrop for this design.
For holiday decor, it is still so important to match the aesthetic of the home to create a cohesive design. Yes, you may be adding a Santa sculpture to your space, but those sculptures should look like they could fit the home all year long.
The inspiration for this room came from an amazing 10 foot Umbrella Tree in the corner of the Dining Room. The 14’ full-wall windows also meant that the large trees outside of the home must be looked at as part of the home’s decor!
To create the cohesive look, I added Faux Eucalyptus Garland as my starting point in the centerpiece. Since this is not a tablescape just for one day (the centerpiece will be left up for the entire Christmas Season), I went with a faux version. However, a Fresh Eucalyptus Garland would be the ideal choice for shorter term needs. Typically, this type of fresh garland lasts around four days.
Bringing in greenery also helps create a cozier and relaxing.
Since this room already had so much shine and glitz, and I knew we were going to be adding more, I wanted to make sure that the space still felt calming and inviting.
Since I was already working with greenery, I wanted to pick a color that would complement the Eucalyptus. I also knew that this homeowner and her home, could handle something slightly untraditional, so I decided to accent the green with a pale blush.
When your design plan only incorporates several colors, you don’t have to add a lot of any one color for that hue to really take center stage of the design.
So, to add just a little bit of my blush contrast color, I did simple blush table napkins and a light and airy sheer table runner (both from Amazon!)
To add a bit of extra glam, I did rhinestone martini glasses. To add height dimension against the candlesticks, I did a stemless version. To recreate this look, I recommend these phenomenal prism base stemless martini glasses.
Since I wanted a very lux look, I decided upon these Silver Beaded Placemats. I wanted a square shape to have contrast with the round dinner plates.
For the dinnerware, I went with simple silver charger plates, and silver rimmed plates to let the star of the show take center stage - the geode napkin rings. As an inspiration item for this tables-cape, I wanted the dinnerware to complement the napkin ring, not overshadow it.
The napkin rings being a higher ticket item, I decided to save on the client’s budget and add some eucalyptus sprigs and small ornaments to the alternating plates. This also allowed for added visual interest between place settings with such a large table.
For the cherry on top of this tablescape, I used silver plated tabletop tress of varying heights with silver candlesticks. This gives the table tons of height dimension and completes the lux look. These can be found at Home Goods, TJMax and similar stores, so they are great ways to save on the budget for such a large table.
